74th BAFTA AWARDS
Written by Becca Johnson

Due to the strange times that we are going through, The 74th British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards took place at London's Royal Albert Hall across two nights, the 10th and 11th of April. Unfortunately, no red carpet event could occur this year. The opening night, hosted by Clara Amfo, revealed eight winners in categories including Best Casting, Best Sound and Best Costuming. The prestigious awards including Outstanding British Film Leading Actor and Cinematography were announced on night two, hosted by Dermot O'Leary and Edith Bowman. Join us as we give you the run-down of the all important award winners.
As expected, Nomadland performed exceptionally well. Not only did it take home the award for Best Film, but it also won in other categories including Leading Actress and Director. Another movie that came out strong was The Father, lead by Anthony Hopkins and directed by Florian Zeller. The movie, which depicts a man refusing assistance from his daughter as he struggles with dementia, took home awards in the Adapted Screenplay and Leading Actor categories. Emerald Fennell gave two hilarious speeches, and it was plain to see how shocked she was as she took home awards for Outstanding British Film and Original Screenplay. The BAFTA's made it clear that Netflix Original Ma Rainey's Black Bottom looks great visually, as it took home awards for both Costuming and Hair & Make Up during night one. Besides from handing out awards, the BAFTA's gave us beautiful musical performances from talented individuals including nominee Leslie Odom Jr., Liam Payne and Corinne Bailey Rae.
