It has been 17 years since we have seen Hayden Christensen's portrayal of Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader. Welcome news came for fans when his return was announced at Disney Investor Day 2020, but today Entertainment Weekly has provided us with the first look at the powerful Sith Lord in the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

After the trailer dropped yesterday, with the backdrop of the Duel of Fates, nostalgia set in. Seeing Ewan Mcgregor for the first time donning the jedi robe, it's safe to say, it sent fans wild. Just like Christensen, Mcgregor also hasn't returned to this role in 17 years, and even though Star Wars fans may be screaming for something new, no one can surely turn their nose up at what we are about to witness.

Towards the end of the trailer we get the recognisable breathing of Darth Vader, so it wasn't going to be long until we got a first glimpse and Christensen has revealed in his interview with EW;

"We're going to see a very powerful Vader" - Hayden Christensen

With the picture seemingly showing Vader emerging from his meditation chamber, this seemingly hints at us getting a look at what is under the mask (Surely there would be no reason to hire Christensen back for the role, right?). But with Christensen's admission he may play a bigger role than we are expecting in the upcoming series.

Anyhow, whatever we see of the Sith Lord will surely be epic, his last outing in Rogue One certainly lived up to the billing. But with the emotional ties to Obi-Wan himself, this hopefully will add some depth to the show throughout, and I for one cannot wait to see these two on screen once again.
