May the 4th, otherwise known as Star Wars day, has come around again. To celebrate this year we reached out to our followers and writers to see who their favourite characters from the galaxy far far away are, what they like about them and some of their favourite scenes.
OBI-WAN KENOBI
"I love his performance in Attack of the Clones especially in the scenes opposite Jango (Temura Morrison) on Kamino. An acting showdown between the two. But Kenobi as detective is what I was hoping for more of in the recent series."
- @NextToTheAisle
"He encapsulates the essence of Star Wars across the prequel and original trilogy. From the cheesy, suave and now iconic meme-status of McGregor to Alec Guinness’ worldly, wise gravitas in his first appearance."

HAN SOLO
"In a franchise full of Jedi and Sith Lords, it's testament to Harrison Ford's Han Solo for being the coolest character in the galaxy. He's got the gift of the gab, unstoppable with a blaster, best friends with Chewbacca and flies the Milennium Falcon. It's no contest. As cool as he is, my favourite Han Solo moment is the "I know" response to Princess Leia telling him she loves him as he's about to be frozen in Empire Strikes Back. We've seen him fall in love with her over the two films and know he reciprocates the feeling however, after sharing a passionate kiss and hearing those words from her, to say "I know" after she declares her love for him and he's about to be frozen just shows how he never loses the cockiness that makes him so loveable. Amidst all the action and the "I am your father" reveal, this is such a great little character moment delivered so brilliantly by Ford."

"Yes it’s an obvious choice BUT it’s because his journey is so good through the trilogy, and even into the sequels. Harrison Ford is instrumental in making him the loveable scoundrel, but from hotshot pilot to Rebel General and leader of men, he’s got it all. You believe him, you believe in him and he’s certainly not a flat 2D toy advert!"
- @GelNerd
"The man is a gangster who doesn't play by the rules. Not only does he constantly make fun of the whiny protagonist, but he also gets the girl as well as being a key factor in the fall of the Empire - which, when being just a space cowboy, is hugely impressive. Plus, his friendship with Chewie is an endearing one that elevates the two of them even more."

DARTH VADER
"Has to be Darth Vader! Just iconic the backstory, suit, voice, the pure menace he brings with each scene. My favourite scene was the iconic “I am your father” moment but now after Rogue One it has to be that ending scene when his lightsaber ignites in the darkness and you hear the breathing then goes on to destroy all those troopers with ease just shows how powerful he is for me one of the greatest scenes ever in Star Wars."
- @CommunityRev3
KYLO REN
"Aside from the star-making performance from Adam Driver, Kylo Ren is my favourite character as he is one of the most complex villains from the franchise. He is both flawed and threatening at the same time, being relatable and emotive, traits that we aren't used to seeing in our antagonists. It's easy to sympathise with him, yet at the same time, so easy to hate him. He also looks fantastic, wielding an excellent looking lightsaber that is one of the coolest of the franchise. He may not get the ending he deserves in The Rise of Skywalker, but Kylo Ren is a huge reason as to why the sequel trilogy is so intriguing. He steals every scene he is in and has one of the most interesting arcs."

JYN ERSO
"Jyn Erso is in my opinion the most important character in the Star Wars Universe. No Jedi, Bounty Hunter or Smuggler got the plans to the Death Star. My favourited moment is when she realizes Stardust was the security code on the file to the plans because her father was a good man and he loved her."

AHSOKA TANO
"As a big fan of the Clone Wars series, Ahsoka develops from Anakin's young, at times foolish, padawan into a character that drives the show forward giving some of it's best moments. With the upcoming live action TV show, it shows her importance to this universe and the glimpses we've had of her so far in the "Mandoverse" get me excited to see plenty more of that double white lightsaber action."
