Reeves drops out of Devil in the White City; Apple sets release date for Will Smith's Emancipation; Knives Out sequel heading into cinemas before release.

-Keanu Reeves who was set to star in Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprios Devil in the White City series, has left the Hulu project just 2 months after the announcement.

- Apple has finally set a release date for Will Smith’s Emancipation. The Antoine Fuqua film will open in theaters Dec. 2.

- The three largest cinema chains in the U.S. have all agreed to play Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery for one week over Thanksgiving. The upcoming Netflix project from Rian Johnson is a sequel to his 2019 film, Knives Out.

- Loki head writer Michael Waldron will write the script for 2025’s Avengers: Secret Wars.

- Amazon’s The Rings of Power has started filming its next season. Production got underway at Bray Studios, just outside London.

- The Mare of Easttown filmmaker Craig Zobel has agreed to direct the first 2 episodes of The Penguin, HBO Max’s upcoming spinoff series of Matt Reeves' The Batman.

- Jared Leto is set to star in a biopic of Karl Lagerfeld, the legendary fashion designer and former artistic director of Chanel.

- M. Night Shyamalan and Universal have set a date for a new untitled thriller from the filmmaker for wide release on April 5, 2024.

- The Edinburgh International Film Festival is to “cease trading immediately,” with its parent charity, the Centre for the Moving Image, going into administration.
