OSCARS 2022: HOW THE NIGHT PLAYED OUT

Written by Elliot Lines

Awards season has once again arrived, and the stars of the last year gather to see if they'll claim the top prize. The big favourite going in, The Power of the Dog, came out of these awards with only the one winner, a well deserved Oscar for director Jane Campion. The big winner, grabbing a massive 6 Oscars was Denis Villeneuve's Sci-fi epic, Dune. There were a few shocks of the night, the main one was CODA, taking home the best picture award, being the first streaming film to do so. But that wasn't the only shock, as always there is some sort of controversy, this year coming in the form of Will Smith, appearing to smack Chris Rock after a joke made about his wife. Going on to win his first ever Oscar for his performance in King Richard, Smith appeared to apologise to the academy and others in his acceptance speech.
