MCM COMIC CON LONDON - OCTOBER 2022

Written by Elliot Lines / November 6, 2022

Another Comic Con event has come and gone. Once again the MCM team pulls out all the stops to bring together something that only people could dream of. Exclusive looks, celebrity signings and some truly talented people are all on show here, and that extends to the guests who pull out all the stops in their amazing cosplay, some even hand-made at home. If you were lucky enough to attend, as I was, then you were truly in for a treat.

For those who have never been there are many elements to Comic Con that make it a special place. One of those is the panels. Now you may think it's just sitting in a hall listening to people talk, but these panels are most certainly more than that. There's not many places you can listen to C3PO (Anthony Daniels) talk about his life events first hand, something all Star Wars fans would be interested in. And how many places can you find yourself watching exclusive content from your favourite TV shows, as His Dark Materials fans did this past weekend. The show covers a range of topics for every single person, and there really is something for everyone attending on the multiple stages.

Many fans flock in their numbers for a big reason, celebrity autographs and picture opportunities. Once again, how many places can you meet your movie, TV and gaming heroes up close in person and gain a special moment and memories from that meeting. MCM brings in some of the best talent, whether they're current or from the past there is always and extensive line-up. This year saw the likes of John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings), Tom Sturridge and Mason Alexander Pack (The Sandman), Michael Sheen (Good Omens, Twilight) and as always a collection of past Doctors (Doctor Who).

Another big part of the event is the shopping. Now for collectors this is a paradise with everything you may want in one location. With a large range of collectors items, Comic Con exclusives and some real unique and interesting products.

While at the event we spoke to the team at The Folio Society. Just a small overview of what they do. This is a company that has been around for 75 years, this year celebrating their 75th anniversary. With the guidance and approval of creators and authors, they create what can only be described as works of art, bringing some of the most well know books a completely unique look.

These are a must have for any literature or comic fan as they are true collectors pieces. Every single detail is meticulously thought out and you can tell the amount of care that goes into designing these products. With the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever this coming week, The Folio Society have just released Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet, and after seeing it in person it is an absolute gorgeous edition of this comic book (which you can see in the video below).

Only available to buy online check out their website HERE.

We also spoke to the team at Mighty Jaxx. Who are an award-winning integrated future culture platform that designs and produces digital and phygital collectibles in partnership with the greatest talents in the world. These collectables are extremely unique and designed by the Mighty Jaxx team, I challenge you to find something like this anywhere else because some of the artistic depth on show here is truly amazing. Their products range from small collectables to the much larger pieces ranging from Stranger Things to Spongebob Squarepants.

Find these unique products online, check out their website HERE.

Comic Con is a truly magical event with something for every movie, TV and comic fan. The team at MCM make this happen twice a year, but what makes the event even more special is the guests themselves, with their extravagant cosplay and friendly nature. If you've ever had the thought to go, I'd highly recommend it, if you were unaware of the event then make sure you make the next one.
