FAQs
How many years have you been established?

Film Focus Online was established in 2019 and has been covering film, television and wider entertainment for over seven years. What began as a passion project has grown into an independent entertainment publication covering everything from major studio releases and streaming titles to independent films, festivals, interviews and genre cinema.

How many writers are on the team? What is their combined experience?

Film Focus Online currently has a team of 10 writers, including our Founder and Lead Editor, Senior Writers and Writers. Our team brings a broad range of experience and perspectives, with writers specialising in different areas of film, television, genres and entertainment.

Rather than relying on a single editorial voice, we believe having writers with different interests and backgrounds helps us provide a varied perspective across our coverage.

Do your writers have backgrounds in journalism, copywriting, PR, marketing or particular industries?

Yes. Our contributors come from a range of professional and creative backgrounds. The team includes freelance writers, journalists, broadcasters, film critics and creatives, alongside writers with academic backgrounds in areas such as journalism and the arts.

For example, writer Seb Jenkins has a degree in journalism from the University of Kent and works as a freelance article and fiction writer, while Senior Writer Alex Gilston is also a radio presenter and film critic. Romey Norton holds a Master of Arts and works across writing, acting and presenting.

This range of experience allows us to approach films and entertainment from a variety of perspectives.

Do your writers regularly attend film festivals and events?

Yes. Our writers regularly attend film festivals, premieres, screenings, fan events, conventions and other industry events where possible.

Our coverage has included events such as BFI London Film Festival, Fantasia Film Festival, MCM Comic Con London and Manchester Animation Festival, alongside screenings, fan events and other industry activities.

Attending festivals and events allows us to experience films alongside audiences, discover independent and international cinema, and conduct interviews with filmmakers and talent.

Who do I contact about my film being reviewed?

The best starting point is info@filmfocusonline.com.

Please include as much relevant information as possible, including the film's title, synopsis, trailer or screener link, release date, distribution details and any relevant festival information.

While we cannot guarantee coverage, all review requests are considered on their individual merits, availability and editorial suitability.

Does Film Focus Online review television series?

Yes. Television is an important part of our coverage.

We review new and returning TV series, streaming originals, limited series and documentaries across a range of platforms. We also publish episode-by-episode coverage where appropriate.

Does Film Focus Online review games?

Our primary focus is film and television, rather than video games, so we do not currently operate a dedicated video game review section.

However, we regularly cover films and television based on video games and discuss gaming when it is relevant to our film and entertainment coverage.

Does Film Focus Online have a YouTube channel?

Yes. Film Focus Online has a YouTube presence alongside our written editorial coverage.

Our wider video content includes film and entertainment-related material, and we also use video as part of our social media and interview coverage.

Does Film Focus Online use AI to write reviews?

No. Film Focus Online does not use AI to write its reviews or editorial content.

Our reviews are written by our individual writers and reflect their own opinions, analysis and experiences.

We may use AI tools as an occasional research aid, in the same way that writers may use search engines or other research tools, but AI is not used to generate or replace our writers' reviews.
The opinions and final editorial decisions published by Film Focus Online belong to our writers and editorial team.

Does Film Focus Online conduct interviews?

Yes. We regularly conduct interviews with directors, actors, writers, producers, composers and other film and television professionals.

Our interviews can take the form of written interviews, video interviews or conversations conducted at festivals and industry events. Our existing interview coverage includes filmmakers such as Ben Wheatley, Saïd Belktibia and Scott Mann, as well as interviews conducted at events including MCM Comic Con London and Manchester Animation Festival.

How can I get Film Focus Online to interview me or my team about our film?

The best way to get in touch is via info@filmfocusonline.com.

Please provide details about the film or project, the people available for interview, release or festival dates, and whether you are looking for a written, video or festival/event interview.

We are particularly interested in speaking with filmmakers and talent who have an interesting story to tell about their project, whether that is the filmmaking process, performances, production challenges, independent filmmaking or the ideas behind the film.

Interview opportunities are subject to availability and editorial suitability.

Is Film Focus Online taking on new writers?

We are always interested in hearing from passionate writers who can bring something different to Film Focus Online.

We particularly welcome writers with a strong knowledge of film and television, a distinctive writing voice and the ability to produce reliable, well-written and original editorial content.

If you are interested in joining the team, contact info@filmfocusonline.com with some information about yourself, your areas of interest and links to examples of your previous work.

Does Film Focus Online partner with PR companies?

Yes. We work with PR companies, distributors, studios, production companies, festivals and independent filmmakers to help provide access to films, screeners, screenings, interviews and other editorial opportunities.

We are happy to hear from new PR contacts and companies interested in working with Film Focus Online.

However, editorial coverage remains independent. Working with a PR company does not guarantee a positive review or editorial coverage.

How can I advertise on the Film Focus Online website?

For advertising, promotional opportunities, partnerships or other commercial enquiries, please contact info@filmfocusonline.com.

We can discuss available opportunities depending on the campaign, including website advertising, promotional campaigns, sponsored opportunities and other forms of collaboration.

All commercial opportunities are considered individually to ensure they are appropriate for our audience and publication.

Do clients have the opportunity to review and approve reviews before they are published?

No.

Film Focus Online's reviews are independent editorial content and are written according to our own editorial standards. Films may be provided to us by studios, distributors, PR companies or filmmakers, but this does not give the client editorial control over the resulting review.

We do not offer clients the opportunity to approve, rewrite or alter a review before publication.
We believe maintaining editorial independence is essential to producing honest and trustworthy criticism for our readers.

Providing a film to Film Focus Online does not guarantee a positive review, a particular rating or publication.
