A haunting medieval mystery arrives on UK shelves as The Name of the Rose receives a stunning new Limited Edition 4K UHD/Blu-ray Box Set release from Second Sight Films, also available on Standard Edition and on digital. Directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and based on Umberto Eco’s acclaimed novel, the atmospheric thriller follows a Franciscan friar and his young apprentice as they investigate a series of mysterious deaths at an isolated Italian monastery. Combining murder mystery, religious intrigue and gothic atmosphere, Second Sight Films’ release brings the acclaimed 1986 classic to collectors edition packed with new and archival bonus content.

The year is 1327 and respected Franciscan friar William of Baskerville (Connery) and his young novice Adso of Melk (Slater) arrive at a remote Italian abbey to attend a theological debate. But their visit takes a dark turn when a monk is found dead under mysterious circumstances. Using his sharp intellect and powers of deduction, William suspects foul play and embarks on his own investigation.


When more of the religious men meet their maker, in increasingly disturbing ways; fear and superstition grip the abbey. With tensions rising, the Church enlists the revered inquisitor Bernardo Gui (F. Murray Abraham), an old adversary of William, to uncover the truth. In a race against time, William must unravel the deadly conspiracy hidden within the abbey's walls before more lives are lost.
