What We Know So Far
When a police raid shatters her life, concert pianist Lucy (Léa Seydoux) must protect her son and confront how little she knows her husband after he is accused of an unspeakable crime in this tense thriller about trust and survival.
Written and Directed by Austrian filmmaker Marie Kreutzer, Gentle Monster is the follow up to her critically acclaimed film Corsage - which was Austria’s submission for Best International Feature at the 95th Academy Awards.
Gentle Monster debuted at Cannes, earning Léa Seydoux rave reviews for her fearless and raw performance as Lucy, a woman unraveling after discovering her husband isn’t who she thought he was. THR wrote “Léa Seydoux delivers a performance that’s all raw nerves” while The Playlist declared it a performance that “demonstrates why [Seydoux] is among cinema’s finest working actresses.”
Gentle Monster is set to continue its festival run, including a recently announced Canadian premiere at TIFF, before its release in select theaters October 30th and on Netflix November 18th. Along with Seydoux, the film stars Jella Haase, Laurence Rupp, and Academy Award nominee Catherine Deneuve.
