Spike Lee and Denzel Washington reunite for the fifth time in their legendary creative partnership in Highest 2 Lowest, an Apple Original Film with A24. The reimagining of Kurosawa’s crime classic trades post-war Japan for the gritty streets of modern-day New York City.
Washington stars as a titan music mogul, celebrated for having “the best ears in the business,” who finds himself caught in a life-or-death moral standoff when a ransom plot threatens everything he holds dear. Early reviews hail it as “an exultant Spike Lee Joint” and “a funny, thrilling, soulful gem,” with Washington and A$AP Rocky delivering “flat-out electric” chemistry on screen.
