Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is returning to the arena stage for a landmark 25th anniversary live concert tour, bringing Middle-earth to life with a huge live orchestral and choral performance.
One of the largest film-in-concert productions ever staged in the UK and Ireland, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert will tour Dublin, London, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham, with matinee and evening performances taking place in each city.
The production will see the complete film presented on a huge 60ft HD screen, accompanied live by composer Howard Shore’s Academy Award-winning score.
More than 200 musicians and singers will perform during each production, with 239 musicians bringing Shore’s iconic music to life in perfect sync with the film.
A Cinematic Eperience on an Arena Scale
The London performances at The O2 will be the largest staging of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert ever presented in the UK.
Meanwhile, audiences in Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham will have the opportunity to experience the production in their respective cities for the first time.
From the rolling hills of the Shire to the dark depths of Moria and beyond, the full orchestra and chorus will accompany Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship throughout their epic journey.
Howard Shore’s score is widely regarded as one of the defining achievements in film music.
The soundtrack has also topped Classic FM’s Movie Music Hall of Fame for three consecutive years, further cementing its status as one of cinema’s most beloved scores.
The Fellowship of the Ring
Released in 2001, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring introduced audiences to Frodo Baggins, played by Elijah Wood, a young hobbit who is tasked by the great wizard Gandalf, played by Ian McKellen, with undertaking an epic quest to save Middle-earth from the growing forces of darkness.
Twenty-five years after its original release, The Fellowship of the Ring remains one of the most influential blockbuster films ever made.
The trilogy has left a lasting mark on popular culture, from its enormous global fanbase and countless internet memes to New Zealand’s thriving screen tourism industry. Its influence has also extended to The Hobbit trilogy and further stories set within Tolkien’s world.
