This September, ARROW unleashes a mix of cult classics, kaiju chaos, drive-in delights, and underground oddities. Leading the pack is a brand-new 4K restoration of Britain’s very own monster movie, Gorgo, stomping onto ARROW on September 12. Here’s everything coming to the platform this month.

September 5 – Japanese Deep Cuts

  • The Guard from Underground (1992) – Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s eerie thriller about a disturbed security guard whose obsession turns deadly.

  • Door (1988) – A Japanese home-invasion chiller about a housewife terrorised by a persistent door-to-door salesman.

September 8 – Proof of the Man (1977)

A Japanese-American co-production mixing crime and melodrama. When a young Black man is found murdered in Tokyo, the investigation exposes prejudice, corruption, and buried secrets.

September 12 – Gorgo (1961) & At the Drive-In (2017)

  • Gorgo – Britain’s answer to Godzilla, newly restored in 4K! After a volcanic eruption brings a prehistoric monster to the surface, two divers capture it and turn it into a circus attraction in London. The catch? Their prize is only a baby — and its 200-foot mother is coming to reclaim her child. Starring Bill Travers and William Sylvester (2001: A Space Odyssey), Gorgo is both a cautionary tale and a kaiju classic.

  • At the Drive-In – A heart-warming documentary about a Pennsylvania drive-in theatre run by film lovers and volunteers, keeping cinema alive against the odds.

September 19 – 70s Creature Features

  • Beast of the Yellow Night (1971) – A Faustian deal goes gruesome in this Filipino-American horror about a criminal who sells his soul and becomes a demon.

  • Twilight People (1972) – A mad scientist conducts bizarre experiments, creating human-animal hybrids in the tradition of The Island of Dr. Moreau.

  • Beyond Atlantis (1972) – Treasure hunters discover an underwater civilization with eerie, glowing-eyed inhabitants.

September 26 – Paranormal Visions

  • Clara’s Ghost (2019) – A dark comedy about a woman (Paula Niedert Elliott) haunted by a ghost while her dysfunctional showbiz family spirals around her.

  • Masking Threshold (2022) – A chilling chamber horror about obsession and descent into madness, blending experimental visuals with Lovecraftian dread.

  • The McPherson Tape (1989) – Infamous found-footage cult classic, purporting to be “real” home video evidence of an alien abduction.

September 29 – Creepshow 2 (1987)

The cult anthology sequel delivers more comic-inspired horror mayhem, including the iconic tales The Raft and The Hitchhiker.

Spotlight: GORGO (1961) – Restored in 4K

“Pretty darn good,” hailed The New York Times — Britain’s own kaiju classic storms back in glorious 4K. With circus showmanship, a stomping lizard, and motherly fury levelling London, Gorgo is a monster movie gem you’ll want to see (or re-see) on the biggest screen you have.
