Eenie Meanie is Samara Weaving, trying to erase her distasteful past by starting anew. But an unexpected pregnancy drags her back into the dangerous path of her ex-John, and sparks her old life up again. She must survive one final job to finally break the cycle, learning what it truly means to finally be free.
What is Eenie Meanie about?
At first glance, Eenie Meanie doesn’t exude any emotional gravitas, but as the film's mixture unravels, you are surprised by just how deep it actually gets. As we learn through flashbacks, Eedie’s life of crime began at just 14 years old when she was caught driving her drunk, drug-dealing parents’ home from a lowlife bar, then suddenly everything changed. Knocked around a turbulent foster care system, alone, with no one to trust, she refused to let this be her future. Weaving's performance yet again proves she should be a bigger star, elevating the material to be more than just a heist thriller, but finding the strength to be your true self amongst a mass of thieves.
The film advances with a combination of high-octane car chases, with calculous heist vibes, creating a solid, wildly entertaining movie. The stylish crime caper careens into intense relationship drama that builds a lot of emotion and finishes with liberating payoff during the final moments. The script is chaotic, humorous, and feels very familiar. With similarities pulled from other films such as Baby Driver, The Italian Job, and Gone in 60 Seconds. It boasts a talented ensemble cast that only improves its overall enjoyment.
What do the cast bring to the table?
Bringing us back to what is central to the film's layers is Eedie, played by Samara Weaving. Weaving brings a blend of vulnerability and toughness, with an everlasting smart mouth and a caliber that knows no bounds. Supporting her – Steve Zahn (Joyride), who plays her father, a man who abandoned her and moved on with a new family. Andy Garcia (The Godfather III) is the boss, who gave Edie her nickname Eenie Meanie and pulls her into another job, ultimately pushing Edie into making a decision that could make or break her heart.

Randall Park (Totally Killer) has a small, hilarious cameo that triggers even more mayhem as the film continues. And Karl Glusman (Watcher), the catalyst who ruins everything he touches, and the major blind spot in Eddie's life. Together, the film bounces off their energy, barrelling towards a finale you wouldn’t anticipate.
Is Eenie Meanie worth watching?
Straight from the outset, Eenie Meanie gains ground with flashy driving sequences, a wide range of bad decisions, and raw action set-ups. The film twists and jolts you at every turn, keeping you completely on the edge of your seat. It’s ideal for fans of fast cars, theatrics, comedies, and blowouts with a twist. Shawn Simmons' directional feature debut is sassy, anchored by memorable characters, and although some scenes were clearly made for the big screen, streaming services are sure to have a lot of fun with this one.
Eenie Meanie is available to stream on Disney+.
