This week, London was transformed into a universe of cosmic wonder as Marvel Studios hosted the dazzling UK launch event for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Taking place at the iconic BFI IMAX, the event celebrated the beginning of a bold new era for Marvel’s First Family, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the most anticipated superhero films of the decade.
A Blue Carpet Fit for Heroes
In a stylish twist on the traditional red carpet, attendees were welcomed onto a stunning blue carpet, evoking the colour of the team’s iconic uniforms. Fans and media lined the perimeter, cameras flashing as the stars of the film made their grand entrances.

Pedro Pascal, who plays Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, led the arrivals with his signature charm, followed by the ever-poised Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman), the electrifying Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch), and the enigmatic Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing). Joining them were the film’s powerful supporting cast: Julia Garner, Ralph Ineson, and director Matt Shakman, who all stopped to greet fans and share insights with press.
Themed photo opportunities brought Marvel magic to life, with immersive backdrops inspired by Baxter Building labs and the 60's themed sets accompanied by the Fantastic Four car. Fans and guests alike posed with props and interactive displays that made them feel like honorary members of the Fantastic Four.
A themed drinks reception added a touch of galactic flair, with cleverly named cocktails making the rounds as industry insiders mingled.
In Conversation: Shaping the Fantastic Future
The heart of the evening was a live discussion with director Matt Shakman and the all-star cast. Shakman shared his vision for revitalizing the franchise, emphasizing character-driven storytelling and a grounded yet epic tone.
Pedro Pascal reflected on how he prepared for the complex role of Mr Fantastic: “Well I had Matt Shakman, incredible material to work with and an incredible cast.”

Vanessa Kirby talked about the pinch yourself moments: “There were and it was really special as Matt had this genius idea of shooting the pre-launch before The Fantastic Four went to space.”
Joseph Quinn spoke of his reaction when getting the role as Johnny Storm: “I was very surprised initially, I remember having the first zoom meeting with Matt.”
Ebon Moss-Bachrach revealed the approach to "Its clobbering time", The Thing's famous quote: “Matt and I had this whole Jane Austin kind of approach to 'Its clobbering time', a will they won't they kind of thing.”
Julia Garner and Ralph Ineson teased their roles, hinting at mysterious connections to cosmic forces that will play a key role in the film’s overarching conflict.
A Sneak Peek Into the Marvel Multiverse
To top off the night, attendees were treated to an exclusive sneak peek at the film, with extended clips from previously released trailers—offering deeper glimpses of action sequences, character dynamics, and mind-bending visuals that left the audience buzzing. While spoiler-free, the footage hinted at multiversal stakes, family tension, and the kind of scale Marvel fans crave.
The UK launch of The Fantastic Four: First Steps wasn't quite a premiere—but it was a celebration of legacy, imagination, and the start of something truly cosmic. With a powerful ensemble cast, a visionary director, and a fresh new direction, this film marks the long-awaited return of Marvel’s First Family to the big screen.
