REBEL MOON TRAILER EVENT WITH ZACK SNYDER

BY JACK RANSOM AUGUST 22, 2023

Thanks to the generous folks over at Netflix, I was given the chance to travel to the Soho Hotel in London for an early viewing of the trailer of Zack Snyder’s upcoming new original feature - Rebel Moon. As well as an early peak of the trailer, there was also a trio of exclusive clips (which unfortunately I am not allowed to discuss here at this time), listen to the man himself and his wife/producer Deborah Snyder provide insights into the inspirations, trials and tribulations to get this project off the ground, examine a host of costumes, concept art and behind the scenes photos of the shoot and briefly meet the director himself!

I have to keep details light when discussing the talk with Zack and Debbie as unannounced tidbits were mentioned and glimpses into the onset world. However, it’s unabashedly clear (even more so when you see the spectacularly insane trailer) how much thought, mythology and detail has gone into crafting the world, aesthetic and tone of Rebel Moon. From the trailer alone the feature feels *huge* and already substantially established in its lore and mythology. With this being a Snyder feature of course the film looks visually staggering, the action gratuitously eye-popping and the trailer score is already giving my ears hope for the full feature’s sound work and music.

The costumes on display also provide so many intricate details and insight into the new upcoming world of these characters. Seamlessly combining medieval, retro-futuristic, alien, ancient and the fantastical to craft something wholly original yet at the same time instantly recognisable from a visual standpoint.

Rebel Moon looks like it could quite possibly be Snyder’s defining feature. As I say, from the trailer alone, the scale, ambition, imagination and strikingly confident attitude brazenly crackle and explode from the screen. How about a cinema release eh’ Netflix?
